If you do not yet know what you have, Identify a dagger helps. What the value depends on is explained under Understand value.

How it works

DAGGRS is an online-only service. Everything runs through photos and shipping.

  1. Step 1: Send photos

For your photo inquiry, use the DG.DE contact channels listed below.

  2. Step 2: Individual reply

We reply with an assessment of your piece. Follow-up questions and further photos are possible.

  3. Step 3: Agreement

If you want to sell, we agree the terms with you.

  4. Step 4: Agreed shipment

    Shipping is arranged by agreement.

These are the photos we need

The more complete the photos, the more precise our reply can be. Photograph in daylight on a light, calm background. Not every view is required, but each one helps. You will find tips on technique under Photographing a dagger.

  1. Overall view, front
  2. Overall view, back
  3. Blade, both sides
  4. Base of the blade (ricasso) with marks, stamps or inscriptions, also in raking light
  5. Crossguard from the front and the side
  6. Pommel from above and from the side
  7. Grip from two directions
  8. Complete scabbard, both sides
  9. Fittings, chape, hanger and suspension ring of the scabbard
  10. Accessories and papers (hanger, papers, labels)

Please do not

  • clean, polish or oil the dagger
  • unscrew, dismantle or separate parts
  • trace or edit serial numbers or marks

Patina, condition and whether the parts belong together are part of the assessment.
